Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt) Day 1

TDO's Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training Program offers a unique combination of in-depth classroom training, personal coaching, and project application to take participants' Lean Six Sigma skills to the Black Belt level. Past participants have averaged a 50 percent return on investment in the first year using this structured approach to reducing variations and solving company problems. Class memebers will learn by doing - and from each other - in this highly effective training program.

 

Seats are still available for the program starting February 28. Grant help unavailable for this course but may be availible for future upcoming training events.

 

The program features:

  • Small, highly interactive classes to maximize learning
  • Personal coaching for all participants by TDO's certified Master Black Belts to accelerate mastery of skills
  • Local classes which provide a built-in network of regional Black Belts for ongoing networking and support. Also eliminates T&L expenses associated with other programs.
  • Face-to-face classroom format facilitating deeper learning and stronger ties between participants.

Kata Simulation

This 1-day program intertwines knowledge of the Kata process and principles with a realistic, hands-on simulation to illustrate the effectiveness and elegant simplicity of Kata. The simulation serves as an introduction and foundation for organizations and individuals new to Kata.

Kata 10-Hour Program


This program clearly demonstrates essential Kata concepts, scientific thinking, and the behavioral principles upon which Kata is built. The program provides expert guidance in establishing current and target conditions, identifying obstacles and PDCA-based experimentation. Much of the time in this learn-by-doing program is spent practicing the Coaching Kata while mentored by Certified Kata Trainers. Upon completion, participants are ready to start using Kata in their daily work.

ExportNY

ExportNY, a four month international business development program, is presented by Syracuse University and the Central New York Technology Development Organization (TDO) in collaboration with the CNYIBA.

ExportNY is designed for executives responsible for their company's international marketing, finance & operations. It helps participants determine which international markets are attractive, prioritize efforts, develop strategies to penetrate each market and tackle the legal, cultural, logistical and regulatory issues of doing business abroad.

The program takes a strategic approach to developing a global business plan and gives companies a jump start by providing classroom training, market research, tools and resources in a stimulating, interactive and supportive environment. ExportNY provides Syracuse University interns at no additional cost to help with research and implementation efforts under the guidance of the participant and program staff.

Participants spend two days per month in program sessions. Between sessions they work on developing and executing their plan. By the end of this fast paced program, businesses are on their way to expanding their markets.

Program Overview: 

This in-depth workshop combines a comprehensive classroom presentation with practical application through project exercises. The eight instructional days of knowledge transfer are spread out to allow the practical application of the methodology. We cover the basic concepts of Lean Six Sigma and demonstrate the tools and methodology necessary to successfully apply them within the DMAIC process improvement framework. Participants are encouraged to complete a project focused on their business while participating in the classroom experience and applying the learned skills.

CCMR Office Hours at TDO

This Fall join the Cornell Center for Material Research (CCMR) for Open Office Hours at partners' offices around the State! Staff from the CCMR will be on-site to answer questions and discuss the amazing resources available to businesses and entrepreneurs.

The CCMR has a broad focus in materials and works with a range of businesses from manufacturing and medical devices companies, to food and fashion designers. Cornell offers many services including testing and prototype development to help in the exploration of new technologies and new markets.

Potential topics for discussion can include funding opportunities, faculty research, technical expertise, analytical and processing equipment and upcoming events.

During the CCMR Office Hours, you will receive personal interaction and instant connectivity. There are no planned presentations or topics. Attendees will “drive” the meetings with their questions and their thoughts. No appointment necessary, no need to travel to the Ithaca campus, simply stop by and let them know what is on your mind.

Cyber security is extremely important for businesses of every size. A weak cyber security profile puts a company and its employees at risk. Not only are finances and operations affected, cyber attacks diminish your reputation and customers' confidence. Everyone involved is stressed financially and/or emotionally. For DOD contractors, it also puts the future of its government contracts in jeopardy. (As of January 1 manufacturers with DOD contracts must meet new NIST standards.) In this workshop you will:
